AAS was probably the best time ive had in a while, hanging out with wicked awesome people, playing amazing band literature with amazing players. It was simply amazing, the conducter was so cool too, he was a euphoniumist, which made it even cooler, i wanted to talk to him sometime about euphonium stuff but i didnt get a chance to. The music was performed so well, The Celebration Fanfare was a great way to open the program, the horns were soooo good, and it was cool how they were in front of the euphs, and American Elegy was long, but really good, all the people play with such good control, which is great to hear how a band should sound, seeing as how our band is ehhhhh. The march was in the upper register, as is for most euph parts by Sousa, and the trombones beat the crap out of it, in an awesome way, like how they did in Variations On America the year before. And Hounds of Spring was just so cool, i wish that i could have that kind of experience everyday in band, which is why i cant wait to go to college, whether it be Eastman, or Ithaca, or any other place. Monday 1st period is going to be such a drag, o well, i cant do anything to make that certain section (coughtrumpetscough) not think that they're as good as they need to be and not practice anything. ugh. Anyway, AAS was just an awesome experience, met a lot of cool people and some cool people from U-E that i never talked to before. =)

I really think that the Wind Ensemble is going to do great in the concert tomorrow, i still think we should run Epinicion more since the damn trumpets havent played that exposed part in the beginning right once. But I feel as prepared as i could be for this concert, espically in folk dances which i re-worked my ass off to get those licks (played it in Area-All state last year) and the other songs are going to be great
Jazz Ensemble will be decent IMO, as it always is, nothing spectacular, i think im just going to play mostly the written solo in Four since i cant improvise for crap. But yeah, I just wish that we could play with more than 2 dynamics, loud and OMG MFL HIDE YOUR CHILDREN.
At least after this conert i get to go to Area-All State, which has an AWESOME program. The Hounds of Spring is such a good piece, i cant wait to hear it all put together.

| Buccs camp |

So, i just got back from buccs, and it went good. But i realized how out of shape my arms are after the 12 hour practice saturday. And then sunday i was dead the whole day, my chops were still doing good, but my arms were shot.
So everyday im going to have to do push-ups and all that stuff, holding up the horn as long as i can and see if i can go longer and longer each time.
Hopefully by the next camp ill be a lot better
This show is looking to be exciting. Espically for a rookie. |

I'm really looking forward to Buccaneer's this weekend, more than usual (which is hard) this time. Maybe it's the 12 hour practice on Saturday with Gino, makes it feel like a junior corps. I just hope that everything falls into place and i'm going to definitely march this summer, it seems likes it's 99% sure that i am going to. Maybe I'll have my interview this weekend about all the stuff, travel, summer stuff. I'm really anticipating the summer, living part of my dream, to march in a drum corps (the other part is marching Phantom, its going to happen, im going to make it). Its gonna be great, doing what i love which a bunch of other very talented people. I just want to get all this stuff sorted out, its giving me some stress, not knowing if everything is going to work out for the summer. Hopefully this weekend will answer all my questions.
This summer is going to be the best summer ever, i can see it already, the music is great, everyone seems to be doing all the work (including myself) in between the camps to get the corps ready. I've heard a lot of people saying that Buccaneers is the best organization in the senior corps area. Seeing as how they've gotten World Champions 2 years in a row, but its not about that. Its about the professionalism ive seem at the camps, from what ive heard, most other senior corps are more layback, not that thats a bad thing, but this is going to prepare me more for the strictness of junior corps. Which i cannot wait for either. Its gonna be hard when I age out, good thing i realized how awesome this activity is early so i can get as much out of it as i can. |

| school and procrastination |

Well this being the first week of the 2nd semester, i am vowing to put all of my effort and energy into schoolwork, euphonium and of course Buccaneers, seeing as how that is about as much energy as i have anyways.
I started to realize that just because i want to go to college for music, i cant put off all the other courses im taking, otherwise no one will accept me pretty much. Which means i need to learn how to not procrastinate, which is going to be extremely hard. But i know ill feel a lot better about myself and be less pissed at myself after every 10 weeks when im skipping lunch and breakfast and sometimes dinner to finish backwork. I just have to keep remembering that all the work will pay off when and if i get into the college i want.
Anyway, on a more humorous note, my sister, being the most responsible person ever, dropped her iPod today and broke it, and my mom was PISSED at her. And whenever she gets in a lot of trouble, i always rub it in her face because its really fun and its also fun knowing that i know that she likes someone named tykwon (i wonder if shes seen the picture erik drew of him on dci night). lol, every time i say that i laugh. I guess thats what happens when ur a gangsta.
